History of Sterling Colour
Sterling Colour was established in the UK over forty years ago and since 1981 has been part of the original Dane company, with a history going back to 1853. Dane has a long history of providing specialized colours for coatings, inks and plastics applications.
Our heritage includes the first successful application of daylight fluorescent technology outside the USA in 1950 and the subsequent development of those technologies for a wide variety of markets around the world. Though Sterling Colour continues to develop its own products we retain strong ties with the inventors of daylight fluorescent technology.
Sterling Colour was based in London until 2005 when it moved to Stalybridge near Manchester.
Since July 2018, Dane Color and Radiant Color, two world class fluorescent manufacturing companies and both wholly owned subsidiaries of RPM, operating in the Day-Glo Group, combined resources. The manufacture of all products produced at Dane Color, UK, is transferred to either Day-Glo Color Corp, Cleveland USA or Radiant Color NV, Belgium.
